Consider designing your home for resale
It is good to keep in mind whether your new home would meet the needs of potential buyers. Granted, you may be building your home with the intent of living in it forever. However, times change and so do circumstances.
You may find that you would like to upgrade to a bigger residence thus leaving you the option of putting your home back on the market. Designing your home with this in mind should help you include features that potential homeowners may gravitate toward.
For instance, if the homes in your neighbourhood have basements, you may want to consider including one in your home, even if you may not initially have any use for it.
